MEET OUR ELDERS

The role of an Elder (a.k.a. Shepherd, Bishop, or Pastor) is an Overseer of God's people (Acts 20:28). The expectations are high (Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7) and the NYC Church of Christ currently has six men in this position.

Larry Craig became a Christian in Colorado and lives in New Jersey with his wife, Mary Lou, of 47 years. He works in the full-time ministry and they have three children and nine grandchildren. Al Baker became a Christian in California and lives in Manhattan with his wife, Glenda, of 30 years. He is a Director of M&A in Corporate Finance and they have one son. Lewis Livingstone became a Christian in Florida and lives in New Jersey with his wife, Tosan, of 10 years. He is a Project Manager and they have four children and three grandchildren. Kevin Finnerty became a Christian in New York City and lives in the Bronx with his wife, Andee, of almost 30 years. He is a physics teacher and they have two daughters. Mark Sanders became a Christian in Rhode Island and lives in Rockland County with his wife, Fiona, of almost 30 years. He is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and they have two sons. Cedric Bao-as became a Christian in New York City and lives in Queens with his wife, Faith Mae, of almost 30 years. He is a registered nurse and they have one son.

Mi KrummNice. I was talking with someone walked and they were trying to argue that despite what scriptures says a single man is a better pastor because he can be more devoted while a married man will have to sacrifice majority of his time with his family. I was like, nope, God knows best and he's clear about the qualifications for a elder, and mentioned how within CoCs, it's common to have several elders all in one church so the burden does not fall to one man, plus the Evengelist and teachers and deacons. Great post.

Some #SnowDayScriptures for a #BlizzardBibleStudy Job 37:5-7 How does the storm help us know God? Why do you think God wants to “stop all people from their labor” from time to time? Psalm 147:15-17 This scripture about the storm reminds us we can’t win a fight against God — in what ways have we been fighting/resisting him spiritually? Proverbs 25:13 How can the snow storm refresh us? What’s one way we can refresh our “master” in heaven by being “trustworthy messengers?” Proverbs 31:21 She’s prepared for the storm so she’s not afraid. How can we be prepared for spiritual storms ahead? Isaiah 55:10-11 What is the parallel between snow falling on soil & God’s word falling on souls? If the Word never returns empty, let’s do our best to spread it as much as possible! **Share this study with a friend!
